SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sister Joan Mary Baldridge, OP (Marinus), died Oct. 24, at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa. The funeral Mass was held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Oct. 28, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Joan Mary made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1952, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1955. She ministered in education for 43 years, 16 as a teacher and 27 as a principal.
In the Diocese of Camden, Sister Joan Mary ministered as principal at St. James, Ventnor, 1997-2009.
Sister Joan Mary served in Congregation leadership as vicaress provincial and prioress provincial for the Northeast Province for 12 years. She served in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, New York and New Jersey.
Sister Joan Mary was born Sept. 8, 1933, in Ashland, Wis., the daughter of William and Margaret (Moloney) Baldridge. Her parents; two sisters, Elizabeth Eimerman and Maxine Johnston; and three brothers, William Baldridge, James Baldridge and Philip Baldridge, preceded her in death. She is survived by her twin brother, John Baldridge, and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 58 years.
