I just wanted to share some thoughts with you regarding the merger now that the dust is beginning to settle. I had been a parishioner of St. Gregory in Magnolia for the past 22 years. All during the planning process our parish, and I as an individual, prayed for God’s will. I was stunned when I heard we were merging and actually closing! God’s will manifests itself in the most unpredictable ways — I’ve learned this through many years of prayer. I know that God always answers prayers but he doesn’t always respond with the answer we hope for. Always God’s answer is the most loving — the very best for us.
Fast forward to today — I am currently registered at Holy Child Parish in Runnemede along with many other former parishioners from St. Gregory’s. I loved St. Gregory’s — the people, the beautiful memories, the moments of prayer and sacrament. I have made many new friends that I would have never known. The Mass is still beautiful, the music enriching, the priests welcoming and encouraging, a truly beautiful parish. I’ve become part of a new community of Catholic Christians, creating new memories, and still experiencing moments of prayer and sacrament.
Anyone who has been a practicing Catholic through the years has to agree that changes had to be made. My hope is that others have been as fortunate as I, to have found home in a new place.
