On Tuesday, Feb. 1, the Black Catholic Ministry Commission in the Diocese of Camden held a prayer service at the St. Pius X Spiritual Life Center, Blackwood.
Led by Bishop Joseph A. Galante, the service included a commissioning for its members, who were presented with Kente stoles, and a reading of the Black Catholic Ministry vision, which calls for a vibrant ministry that will spiritually nurture and sustain Black Catholics within the Diocese, ensure the survival, growth, and liturgical expression of Black Catholics who come from Africa, Haiti, North and South America, and a ministry that will promote interest in vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, religious orders, and lay involvement in parish leadership, all the while fostering an understanding and respect of Black Catholic culture and worship throughout the entire Diocese.
