Paul VI High School has announced that Philip J. Gianfortune has been appointed principal effective July 1.
“I would like to welcome Mr. Gianfortune to the Paul VI family,” Michael Chambers, president of the Haddonfield school, said in a June 6 statement. “Mr. Gianfortune will begin his tenure here with experience in Catholic education that includes a specific emphasis on Catholic education administration.”
Chambers continued, “I know that his vision for Catholic education is aligned with the strategic plan of Paul VI, and his leadership, expertise and experience across many Catholic School settings will serve the faculty, staff and students.”
In February, Sister Marianne McCann, MPF, announced that she would be stepping down as Paul VI principal at the end of the school year. A Principal Search Committee was formed soon after.
Gianfortune has served as principal of Saint Michael the Archangel School, Clayton, since 2019. From 2015 to 2019 he was academic dean and then headmaster at Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, Pennsauken. A Class of 2000 graduate of Camden Catholic High School, Gianfortune holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Rowan University, and a master’s degree in public administration from Rutgers University. He is currently attending Gwynedd Mercy University, Gwynedd Valley, Pa., for his doctorate in educational leadership.
