Paul VI High School 2023 graduate Hannah Hidalgo has been named one of the top five female collegiate players in the country by the Associated Press.
Hidalgo, who scored a school record 2,135 points at Paul VI, led the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring with 23.3 points per game this year for the University of Notre Dame. She is joined on the AP’s All-American First Team by Caitlin Clark (University of Iowa), JuJu Watkins (University of Southern California), Cameron Brink (Stanford University) and Paige Bueckers (University of Connecticut).
Hidalgo led the Fighting Irish to an ACC Tournament Championship while receiving tournament MVP honors. She also garnered regular season awards such as ACC Rookie of the Year, ACC defensive Player of the Year. Hidalgo is just the fifth Notre Dame female to be named First-Team All-American and the first from her school to do it as a freshman.
Notre Dame (28-6 through March 25) punched its ticket to the NCAA Sweet 16 and will resume action on March 29 as the Irish take on Oregon State.
