The Catholic Star Herald highlights the Diocese’s student athletes who stood out during the month of October:
Billy Clewell
Camden Catholic High School, Cherry Hill
Cross Country

Billy Clewell is the 2021 boys Olympic Conference champion after winning the 5,000 meter final at Dream Park on Oct. 20, besting a field of 102 runners. Clewell ran a time of 15:46.68, which was 10 seconds faster than any other competitor. The week prior, Clewell finished second at the Camden County Championships 5K on Oct. 15 at Timber Creek Park with a time of 16:54.52. Clewell’s second-place finish helped the Irish finish third overall in the county standings.
Trevor Cohen
Holy Spirit High School, Absecon
Football

Trevor Cohen has been piling up the numbers all season, and the month of October was no exception. The left-handed senior quarterback from Holy Spirit threw for 505 yards in his first three games of the month, putting him over 1,200 passing yards heading into November.
In his career, Cohen has thrown for 3,135 yards and launched 30 touchdowns, including nine this season. He can be just as dangerous in the Spartans’ ground game with more than 500 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns in his career.
Olivia Bent-Cole
Camden Catholic High School, Cherry Hill
Field Hockey

Olivia Bent-Cole found another gear in October, scoring 25 goals to boost her team-leading total to 36. Bent-Cole, a junior, contributed six hat tricks last month as the Irish won 11 of their 12 games en route to an 18-2 regular season record and an Olympic Conference National Division title. Led by Bent-Cole, Camden Catholic enters the playoffs as the top seed in the Non-Public South tournament. Bent-Cole has scored 80 career goals in just three seasons with the Irish.
She recently committed to play field hockey at Northwestern University.
Genevieve Driscoll
Gloucester Catholic High School,
Gloucester
Volleyball

Genevieve Driscoll had big shoes to fill in replacing Lauren Wethman, the program’s all-time leader in digs, who graduated last year. Driscoll was plugged into the Gloucester Catholic volleyball team’s starting rotation, and the junior libero has been among the state leaders in digs for the entire season, posting 230 of her 404 digs in the month of October. She’s helped a team with just two seniors find its footing in the tough Tri-County Conference. Driscoll has been especially busy of late, eclipsing 25 digs in five of her last seven regular season games.
Shaelan McNally
Paul VI High School, Haddonfield
Cross Country

Shaelan McNally took home a third-place finish at the Camden County Championships at Timber Creek Park on Oct. 15 with a time of 21:02.92 as the Paul VI girls finished second in the team standings and had seven of the top 21 times. The sophomore followed it up with a seventh-place finish at the Olympic Conference Meet at Dream Park on Oct. 20, with a time of 19:31.81, helping the Eagles place fifth.
David Schuhl
Paul VI High School, Haddonfield
Soccer

David Schuhl’s value can’t be measured in simple statistics. The Paul VI senior center defensive midfielder is the engine that runs the Eagles’ boys soccer team.
“He is the unquestioned leader of the team and plays an unselfish role where he will rarely get recognition because he plays the unheralded center defensive mid role,” said Eagles coach Bob Stocklin. “It keeps him from racking up stats, but he has been so great there all year.”
Paul VI is 11-6-1 through October and received an invite to the prestigious South Jersey Coaches Cup for the first time in 18 years.
Allie Serlenga
Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, Pennsauken
Soccer

Allie Serlenga recorded her first career high school hat trick Oct. 1 and kept the momentum rolling. The Bishop Eustace sophomore tallied 10 goals and six assists in 11 games during the month, as the Crusaders made a magical run to the championship game of the South Jersey Coaches Association Tournament, which included three upset victories as the number 13-seed. Serlenga has 17 goals and seven assists on the season and will lead the Crusaders (13-4-2) into the playoffs as the top seed in the South Jersey Non-Public B Playoffs after winning the Olympic Conference National Division.
