At the end of Mass the bishop announced that Summers has been named the new coordinator of the Office of Black Catholic Ministry and Cultural Diversity, effective Feb. 25. A lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart (Saint Bartholomew Church) in Camden, Summers has served in numerous diocesan ministries, including the Black Catholic Ministry Office, Black Catholic Ministry Commission, Racial Justice Commission, Office of Worship, School of Liturgy and RCIA.
