Bishop Joseph Galante has appointed Father Christopher T. Bakey pastor of St. Casimir Parish, Woodbine for a six year term, effective Oct. 19.
Father Bakey, 48, has been pastor of St. Martin dePorres, Hammonton, since 2006. Previously, he was director of vocations for the diocese (2004-2007), director of recruitment of priestly and religious vocations, and director of Nazareth House, a house of discernment in Cherry Hill for men considering applying to seminary. He also was moderator of Charismatic Renewal for the diocese (2002-08).
He served as chaplain of Wildwood Catholic High School and Camden Catholic High School, Cherry Hill. He also served as parochial vicar and administrator of St. Raymond Parish, Villas (1998-2003).
Father Bakey studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Philadelphia, and was ordained Nov. 21, 1998.
