Father Sebastian V. Annino, 90, priest, chaplain and teacher in the Diocese of Camden, died April 20.
Born in Cromwell, Conn., he attended Our Lady of the Angels Seminary in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Seton Hall University, South Orange, before being ordained to the priesthood May 27, 1961, in Camden.
In active ministry for almost 50 years, his first assignment was at Holy Rosary, Ashland, where he served as parochial vicar from 1961-66. He was also parochial vicar at Saint Edward, Pine Hill, 1967-69; Saint Mary, Salem, 1969-71; Saint Isidore, Vineland, 1971-78; Saint Peter, Merchantville, 1978-82; Immaculate Heart of Mary, Woodlynne, 1982-84, and Saint Teresa of Avila, Bridgeton, 1984-91.
Father Annino also served on the faculty at three Catholic high schools in the 1960s: Camden Catholic, Cherry Hill; Saint Joseph, Camden, and Holy Spirit, Absecon. As a hospital chaplain, he ministered at Newcomb Hospital in Vineland; Mater Dei Nursing Home in Newfield, and Elmer Hospital in Elmer.
He retired in 2009.
A visitation will take place from 10-11 a.m. on April 30 at Saint Peter Church, 43 West Maple Ave., Merchantville. Immediately following, a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Bishop Dennis Sullivan. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill.
