Bishop Dennis Sullivan announced Aug. 14 that Laura Montgomery will replace William J. Murray as Chief Financial Officer for the Diocese of Camden on his retirement.
Montgomery has held the positions of Controller for Catholic Charities, Housing and Health Services, and later, Director of Financial Services for the Diocese of Camden, where she managed all aspects of accounting, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis for each entity.
“Laura is a great financial expert who is committed to responsibly caring for the financial health of the diocese. She will be an excellent leader who I know looks forward to continuing the exemplary work of Bill Murray, who has served the diocese for nearly four decades as a member of the finance department,” said Bishop Sullivan.
“I am grateful to Bishop Sullivan for the opportunity to serve the Diocese in this new role. I look forward to continuing the long standing relationships with our parishes and schools started by Bill Murray and to expand and improve our services in the future,” said Montgomery.
Prior to her time with the diocese, Laura held financial positions with Project H.O.M.E, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and Mellon Bank. In her role at the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, she was the first woman to hold the position of Director of Accounting Services.
Montgomery received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in accounting, from Drexel University in 1985.
A resident of Sewell, with her husband Jim, Montgomery is mother to two adult daughters and a new grandmother. She is a member of Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish in Glassboro.
