Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
The Society for the Propagation of the Faith is the basic means of support for the Church’s worldwide missions and it has, as its primary purpose, the promotion of a universal missionary spirit. Each year, baptized Catholics all around the world are invited to express their missionary commitment through prayer, personal sacrifice and financial support for the work of the Church in the Missions.
Through the support of Catholic everywhere, The Propagation of the Faith provides ongoing help for the pastoral and evangelizing programs of the Church in Africa, Asia, the islands of the Pacific and remote regions of Latin America. This includes aid for the education and support of seminarians, Religious novices and lay catechists; for the work of Religious Communities in education, health care and social services; for communication and transportation needs, and for disaster and emergency relief, when necessary.
I invite you to become a member of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith during Mission Membership Sunday which will be held in our parishes January 23-24. There are individual and family memberships, as well as perpetual memberships. Annually, 15,000 Masses are offered throughout the Missions for members of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and, Mass is offered daily at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome for all members of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.
