In recognition of cancer awareness and the kick-off to the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Relay for Life program, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center lit the hospital’s 30-foot, 15-ton statue of the Blessed Mother purple the evening of May 1. Lourdes joined communities across the country who lit up their homes, campuses, and businesses purple, the official color of the Relay for Life program.
Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser for ACS. The Lourdes team will once again walk in support of the ACS Relay for Life at Delran High School on Saturday, June 7. Lourdes’ team is open to its employees, patients, families, or anyone who wants to walk with Lourdes.
Last year, Lourdes’ Relay for Life team attracted more than 850 participants and raised $125,000 for ACS.
Lourdes’ cherished statue has stood atop the medical center since its inception in 1950.
