I was very disappointed with the biased news coverage of the recent funeral of the late Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass). If I didn’t know better, I would think that he was being considered for sainthood.
During the funeral Mass, I was appalled to see that Barack Obama was allowed to take the pulpit to give the eulogy for Kennedy. The Boston Archbishop should have issued a statement denouncing Kennedy’s lifelong support of abortion to make it clear the senator opposed the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The problem with news coverage these days is that anyone can call themselves anything. If Senator Kennedy calls himself a devout Catholic, he is portrayed that way. The true facts, however, reveal something entirely different. Kennedy spent his entire political career promoting today’s “Culture of Death.” Some might have even called him the “Poster Boy for the Abortion Industry.” Real Catholics practice their faith by being pro-life and oppose other issues such as stem cell research. Fifty million babies have been killed since 1973 with the unwavering support of Sen. Kennedy and other so-called Catholics such as Vice-President, Joe Biden and Speaker of the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi.
We, as a country, have lost our way. Our leaders, Barack Obama and Joe Biden, are asleep at the wheel and they don’t have a GPS. We made the bad turn back in 1973, when our Supreme Court legalized murder. If we do not overturn Roe v. Wade, we will never get back on the right road. We cannot continue to kill one and a half million babies a year and expect to prosper as a nation.
It is time that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops draft a strong, clear, uniform policy on dealing with pro-abortion Catholic politicians.
In my opinion, I believe these pro-abortion Catholic politicians should be excommunicated.
