Through the generosity of the Knights of Columbus, the New Jersey Catholic Conference (NJCC) has been able to launch an electronic communication network that will allow NJCC to communicate directly with Catholic parishioners throughout the state and also facilitate parishioners communicating with elected officials.
The network will help NJCC and the Catholic bishops of New Jersey to articulate Catholic teaching while also alerting people in the pews to issues that could impact the church and society.
According to Patrick Brannigan, executive director of NJCC, “In a time when we are bombarded with information that often conflicts with or misrepresents Catholic teaching, the network will allow NJCC to inform Catholics throughout the state and to clarify the position of the bishops on such issues.”
NJCC’s network will be flexible enough to allow individual bishops to communicate to people in their diocese while also allowing all of the Catholic bishops of New Jersey to speak with a single voice on church teaching and emerging issues.
NJCC successfully tested the system during NJCC’s effort to support marriage as only a union of one man and one woman and the Conference’s effort to protect the privacy of birth mothers.
