
Sister Mary Theresa Andreoli, 92, a member of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, Villa Rossello, Newfield, and former Catholic school educator in the Diocese of Camden, died May 3 at Misericordia Nursing Center, York, Pa., where she had been a resident since 2008.
Prior to that, she had been missioned at the Provincial House in Newfield from 1990 to 2008.
Sister Mary Theresa – born in Penne, Province of Pescara, Abruzzo, Italy – was the daughter of the late Dominic and Rose (Massimi) Andreoli. She and her family came to the United States when she was a child. She entered the Congregation of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy in 1956 and professed her vows in 1959.
In 1966, she earned a bachelor’s degree in education from College Misericordia, Dallas, Pa., and then served in elementary parish schools staffed by the religious order in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
In the Diocese of Camden, Sister Mary Theresa taught at Saint Francis of Assisi, Vineland (1976-1983); Saint Philip, Brigantine (1983-1985); and Saint Rose of Lima, Newfield (1996-2002).
After her teaching career, Sister Theresa served as cook for the religious community in Newfield.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Annunzio, Antonio and Ario Andreoli, and by nephews Dominic, Frank and Samuel J. Andreoli. Surviving are her nieces and nephews – Joseph, Michael, Anthony, Ario and Riccardo Andreoli, Rita Andreoli, Linda Fanella and Mary Jane Olsen – as well as many cousins, and great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her religious community.
A viewing will be held at 1 p.m. May 9 at Misericordia Nursing Center Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m.
Masks are to be worn and social distancing is to be observed. Burial will be private.
