The Diocese of Camden’s Office of Young Adult Ministries is holding its Theology on Tap program for young adults this Tuesday night, Jan. 12, at Tir Na Nog in Cherry Hill.
Eve Tushnet, author of “Gay and Catholic: Accepting My Sexuality, Finding Community, and Living my Faith,” will be the featured speaker, discussing her book and her life. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the presentation begins at 7:30 p.m. The event is free,.
A writer and blogger in Washington, D.C., Tushnet surprised her family and friends by converting to Catholicism as a 20-year old Yale sophomore. She describes herself as an “openly lesbian and celibate Catholic.”
In a 2014 interview with the Jesuit journal America, Tushnet said, “there is a future for individual gay people in the Catholic Church that doesn’t require repression, or self-hatred, or being totally alone.”
Theology on Tap is a discussion series for Catholic young adults and their friends, married and single, in their late teens (18-19), 20s and 30s.
