St. Andrew offers live video streaming of Mass, special events

Catholics can now view the Mass and other liturgical events at Saint Andrew the Apostle Church, Gibbsboro, from their desktop computers, iPads, notebooks and smartphones.

On Holy Thursday night, Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish launched its first broadcast and streamed the Mass live through the parish website.

Through a collaborative arrangement with Streamspot, Saint Andrew’s Technology Ministry installed high definition cameras in the church. Automated software allows the Gibbsboro/Voorhees Parish to schedule the recording and broadcast of different events by providing a link to the video recording on the parish website. Anyone can log on to the parish website (www.ChurchOfSaintAndrews.org) and with one click, have instant access to the live broadcast; identify the countdown to the next broadcast; or view previously archived events.

“Streaming of our worship services creates a wonderful opportunity for the entire congregation, and others, to attend services when they may not be able to participate in person for various reasons. It enables us to reach out to those who are homebound, in hospitals or in nursing home facilities, and even reach our younger parishioners who may be away at college. It provides a way for all to remain connected with their faith community,” said Msgr. Louis Marucci, pastor.

“Technology can never replace the Sunday obligation since the Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith,” he added. “However, this new technology can help us reach out to those who are unable to attend Mass and can also serve as a vehicle of evangelization for our faith.”

Saint Andrew the Apostle now broadcasts an 8:30 a.m. daily Mass, a 5 p.m. Saturday evening Mass; the 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning Masses, and 6 p.m. Sunday evening Masses. It will also broadcast all of the special liturgies, paraliturgies, novenas, prayer services and special events. Broadcasts can be viewed at www.ChurchofSaintAndrews.org
