An athlete must train hard, have great strength, perseverance and endurance to keep them motivated, and a strong faith in themselves to achieve their goals.

The same holds true if you want to win that Christian long-distance race.

Theology on Tap, a speaker and discussion series for men and women — married or single — will present the program, “Running the Race and Keeping the Faith,” with special guest Priscilla Frederick, from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16. The program will be held at The Dubliner Pub and Grill, 325 E. Jimmie Leeds Road in Galloway.

Priscilla Frederick, a professional track and field athlete from Sicklerville, represented the country of Antigua and Barbuda in this past summer’s Olympic Games in Rio, and is now in training at Princeton University and Mount Laurel for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

A proud Roman Catholic, Priscilla will speak about how she credits her success to God, and to her amazing mother.

The Christian life can be a difficult marathon, but one that we must all run.

Our marathon should be run with endurance, and with a faith focused on Jesus, who endured the cross and received his eternal reward.

Leading the life of a good Christian means enduring a grueling race — faced by long hills to climb, steep declines and sometimes muddy fields to slowly plod through. Self-discipline is needed to get into the proper shape to face those life obstacles, and to maintain motivation to practice the Word of God.

With some coaching and training, we can all get there! You’re not alone in this race. You can do it!

Finishing well is everything, but you’re not competing against your fellow believers. We’re all on the same team, so it’s our job to push everyone to be their best. And once you cross that finish line, the reward will be God’s promise of everlasting life.

Theology on Tap is a great chance to hear dynamic speakers and engage in meaningful conversation in a relaxed and casual atmosphere.

There is no cost to attend. Participants are welcome to purchase food and beverages.
