In an effort to promote and to work for peace in the city of Camden and around the world, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception began a project last month called “We Need Mary,” celebrating feasts and memorials dedicated to Our Lady and imploring her protection.
The prayerful initiative began on Nov 20, celebrating the feast of Our Lady of Providencia, and of the Presentation of Mary, with a morning liturgy followed by a procession around the Cathedral, with a recitation of the rosary. A member of the day’s “host family” led the procession with a cross, followed by candles and image of Our Lady. Taking home the cross, the host family then dedicated themselves to praying for peace during the week, before returning the cross the next Sunday and sharing their “peace experience” with the entire congregation.
The project continued on Dec. 7, the vigil of the feast of the Immaculate Conception, and will continue with different host families for each celebration.
