This Lent the small Christian communities of Saint Thomas More Parish, Cherry Hill, worked in collaboration with the Catholic Charities to provide assistance to a refugee family from Afghanistan.
These small parish communities are dedicated to prayer, learning. faith sharing, support and outreach in service to their neighbor.

Patrick Barry — Director of Immigration, Refugees and Migrant Services at Catholic Charities —approached the parish about assisting a new refugee family with their resettlement. The family of six from Afghanistan arrived in area on Feb. 3.
Catholic Charities asks parishes to help by building welcoming kits that include household, kitchen and bedroom items, as well as toiletry and hygiene articles.
Ten of the parish’s small Christian communities each donated one of the welcoming kits. In addition, furniture and gift cards were given for the family.
