As All Saints Cemetery in Newfield nears completion, many Catholics have been taking advantage of discounted, pre-construction prices.

All Saints Cemetery is one of 14 diocesan managed cemeteries in the six-county Diocese of Camden.

The 25 landscaped acres located on Tuckahoe Road in Newfield provide a variety of burial plots.

The new mausoleum, currently 50 percent complete, will accommodate more than 1,650 crypts and 240 niche spaces for cremation urns as well as an interior chapel.

The chapel will provide a comfortable space for the Rite of Committal during inclement weather as well as a quiet sanctuary for all visitors.

Completion is expected in late fall. Bishop Joseph A. Galante presided at the groundbreaking ceremony in November 2006.

To date, 53 crypts have been sold.

With this new mausoleum, the diocese is addressing the need for a variety of burial options.

“Within All Saints Cemetery, we are offering a final resting place for cremated remains, ground and crypt burials that affirm the tenets of the church with respect for the dignity and sacredness of the body,” said Larry Reader, executive director of Temporal Services.

In addition, Catholic cemeteries offer an environment of comfort in times of sorrow for loved ones, he said. “Our forefathers in faith found the ministry of burial of the dead very important. Catholic cemeteries remain vital even today, giving witness to the respect we give the body, even in death,” he explains.
