Richland’s Saint Augustine Preparatory School took home five individual and two relay medals at the 2022 New Jersey Individual State Swimming Championship at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology on March 6.
Cole Jennings reached the podium twice as a finalist in the 200 individual medley (1:53.20) and 100 breaststroke (57.3), taking fourth-place in both events. He edged out teammate Dante Buonadonna, who placed eighth in the 200 IM in a time of 1:54.83.
Trevor Nolan jumped two spots from the seven-seed to win fifth place in the 100 freestyle in 47.40, and Michael McCarthy finished sixth in the 500 freestyle in 4:40.53.
The relay team of Nolan, Jennings, Anthony Mortellite and Buonadonna took fourth place in the 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:27.10. The same foursome took eighth in the 400 free relay, recording a time of 3:13.14.
In girls action, Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Newfield, set a new school record in the 200 medley relay. The team of Isabella Rossi, Scarlett McGlinchey, Lana Davidson and Isabela Valle recorded a time of 1:49.70 to take eighth place in the state.
McGlinchey made a second trip to the podium after placing seventh in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.66.
