
Sister Dolores Potkay, MPF, died June 19, 2022, at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown. She was 83.
Born in Trenton, Sister Dolores entered the Religious Teachers Filippini in 1957. She received the habit in 1958 and made her religious profession in 1961.
Sister Dolores studied mathematics, earning a bachelor of arts degree from the College of Saint Elizabeth (now university) in Convent Station (Morris Township), and a master of science degree from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Ind. She also earned a master of arts degree in religious education from La Salle University, Philadelphia.
In her 63 years of religious life, Sister Dolores was missioned in six dioceses. In the Diocese of Camden, she ministered in Paul VI High School, Haddonfield, where she taught mathematics from 1966 to 1971, and served as vice principal from 1975 to 1978. She taught in Saint Joseph High School, Hammonton, from 1985 to 1992, and also served as convent superior.
Sister Dolores was one of four children. She is survived by her brother, Raymond, sister-in-law, Ursula, and their family. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Helen (Rafalowski) Potkay, and her sisters, Caroline and Mary Potkay.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 23. She is buried in Ave Maria Cemetery at Villa Walsh, Morristown.
