Robert J. Wallace, 95, of Atco, father of Father Joseph Wallace, died April 21. He was 95.
Born in Egg Harbor Township on April 24, 1927, Wallace served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the battleship USS North Carolina. He went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for more than three decades.
Spending time with his family, playing the harmonica and going to Philadelphia sports games were among his favorite pastimes.
Robert Wallace was predeceased by his wife, Barbara D. (DeVecchis) Wallace; parents Richard Wallace and Anna (McManus), and sisters Rita McKenna and Anna Mae McDermott.
In addition to Father Wallace, pastor of Christ the Redeemer Parish, Atco, he is survived by children Eileen Shaud of Elmer; Joan Becker of West Chester, Pa.; Robert Wallace of Absecon; Barbara McCarthy of Margate; Mary Dickey of Linwood; John Wallace of Egg Harbor Township; Anthony Wallace of Lawrenceville, and Lisa Wallace-Hostelley of Danville, Calif.
He is also survived by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his good friend Irene Roland.
A viewing will be held April 29 from 9-11 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Parish (Assumption Church), 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr., Atco. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m.
