The Catholic Star Herald highlights the Diocese’s student athletes who stood out during the month of April.

Cara Colbert

Paul VI High School, Haddonfield

Golf

Cara Colbert is the veteran presence on a Paul VI girls golf team that is still building a foundation since it revived the girls program in 2019.

Colbert, a senior, has been the Eagles’ leading scorer through its first five dual matches this season, posting a 52 in nine-hole play three times. She shot a 113 at the 18-hole Camden County High School Golf Tournament on April 26, which included 84 golfers from 17 high schools.

Adrianna Green

Gloucester Catholic High School, Gloucester City

Softball

Adrianna Green is getting it done in both areas of the game. Green, a Gloucester Catholic junior pitcher, has struck out 102 batters in 12 games this season while batting .500 at the plate with 10 RBIs. The Rams’ ace has thrown the bulk of Gloucester Catholic’s innings, as the team has raced out to a 10-2 record through April.

Green’s shining moment came April 29, when she went 2-for-3 at the plate and struck out 17 from the circle in a 1-0 victory over Pittsgrove’s Schalick High School.

Jack Orr

Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, Pennsauken

Golf

Jack Orr had a nearly perfect April out on the golf course. The Bishop Eustace junior was the medalist in eight straight matches, as the Crusaders racked up a 7-2 overall record.

Orr has averaged a score of 2.6 strokes over par per nine holes through April, and he posted the lowest score in the Camden County High School Golf Tournament on April 26 with a six-over par 77 in the 18-hole competition.

Josiah Ragsdale

Saint Augustine Preparatory School, Richland

Baseball

The mighty Hermits ran the table in April with an 11-0 record, largely thanks to consistent hitting from Saint Augustine senior right fielder Josiah Ragsdale. The Iona College commit hit safely in 10 of the Hermits’ first 11 games, batting .517 with five walks and 10 RBIs.

His clutch home run during a 3-for-3 performance April 3 against Gloucester Catholic High School propelled the Hermits to a 4-3 win in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Mainland. Saint Augustine has outscored its opponents, 128-11, during the first month of the season.

Ryan Stiefel

Paul VI High School, Haddonfield

Lacrosse

The first month of Ryan Stiefel’s senior season couldn’t go much better. Stiefel scored 36 goals and added 23 assists in eight games to lead the Paul VI boys lacrosse to a 6-2 record.

Stiefel’s performance April 21 was off the charts as he netted 10 goals in a 20-13 win over West Deptford. Stiefel has scored four or more goals on five occasions this year, and the Robert Morris University commit was sitting at 98 career tallies heading into the month of May.

Hanna Watson

Holy Spirit High School, Absecon

Lacrosse

After a tremendous 87-goal freshman season, Holy Spirit’s Hanna Watson is on track for an even better sophomore campaign. Watson has managed 31 goals in her first 11 games, but more importantly, became an even more dangerous playmaker, already surpassing last year’s assist count with 39 this spring.

Only a sophomore, Watson’s play has led the Spartans to an 8-3 record through April. Watson’s biggest game came April 22 in a 17-12 win over Egg Harbor when she scored six goals and added four assists.
