Three local high school athletes made history within a week at their respective schools as each recently scored their 1,000th career point on the basketball court.

Gloucester Catholic’s Jack Mustaro became the first boys player from his school to eclipse 1,000 points during his junior year, scoring a career-high 36 points in an 80-48 victory over Clayton on Jan. 30. Mustaro became the 17th Ram to join the 1,000-point club, which also includes his brother RJ Mustaro, who accomplished the feat last year. RJ finished with 1,109 career points and Jack sat at 1,089 points, with a chance to eclipse his brother’s mark heading into a Feb. 6 game against Salem.

On Feb. 5, Luke Kennevan knocked down his 1,000th career point as Camden Catholic secured a 70-18 victory over Pennsauken Tech in the preliminary round of the Camden County Tournament. Kennevan, who is also a junior, also recorded a career-high effort with 27 points during his milestone game.

In girls basketball, Our Lady of Mercy Academy senior Savannah Prescott reached 1,000 points on Feb. 5 by scoring nine points in a 59-49 loss to Shawnee. Prescott became the fourth from her school and the second this year to reach 1,000 career points, following teammate Madelynn Bernhardt, who hit the mark Jan. 11. Bernhardt, who stood at 1,154 career points through Feb. 5, is attempting to chase down the school record held by Jeannine Heil (1,212 points).
