CAMDEN – Catholic Charities of South Jersey has announced that Siobhan McGirl, a prominent general assignment reporter for NBC10 Philadelphia and a graduate of the Diocese of Camden’s Catholic schools, will serve as the emcee for this year’s Annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony. The event will take place on Oct. 24 at Resorts Hotel in Atlantic City.
“We are absolutely delighted to have Siobhan join us as emcee,” said Dr. Maria Elena Hallion, executive director of Catholic Charities of South Jersey. “Her deep connection to the region, coupled with her passion for storytelling and community, makes her the perfect fit to help us shine a spotlight on the vital work Catholic Charities does and to honor this year’s remarkable awardees.”
Siobhan grew up in Washington Township and attended Our Lady of Hope Regional School, Blackwood, and Gloucester Catholic High School, Gloucester City. In January 2024, she joined NBC10 Philadelphia after four years at WVIT, NBC Connecticut, where she worked as a reporter and multimedia journalist. Previously, she worked at WDBJ-7 News in Roanoke, Va. She earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and journalism from Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.
When her employment with NBC10 was announced, Siobhan expressed her excitement, saying, “Coming home to tell stories in the communities that shaped me has been an incredible full-circle moment. I’m thrilled to be back in South Jersey, and I’m honored to give back through my work.”
The Catholic Charities Annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony is the premier fundraising event supporting Catholic Charities’ mission to provide direct assistance to individuals and families in need throughout South Jersey, regardless of faith. The event, now in its 20th year, celebrates community leaders who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to social justice and serving the vulnerable. In addition to this year’s Disciple of Mercy Award recipients, Deacon David J. Harkins, Gloucester Township Police Chief, will receive the Saint John Neumann Award.
