Gloucester Catholic High School honored its 2025 Hall of Fame inductees on April 15 at the Sapphire Grand Ballroom in Deptford.
The banquet benefited Gloucester Catholic High School and paid tribute to some of the finest students and athletes in the history of the school, which opened in 1926. The newest inductees represent the third class to be honored; the school created its Hall of Fame in 2023.
The Class of 2025 inductees were chosen in the areas of Arts/Academics/Educators; Athletics, and Special Recognitions. Jane Woods ’42, Jack Collins ’60 and George Batavick ’66 were recognized under Arts/Academics/Educators.
In athletics, the Rams honored Al Radano ’60, (baseball); Dr. Bill Somerset ’64, (basketball); Thomas Iacovone Sr. ’70, (football); John Yowler ’80, (baseball, basketball, football); and Mandy Moraca ’05, (soccer). In addition, Gloucester Catholic inducted the 1967 football team, the 1972 boys basketball team and the 1979 girls basketball team.
Gloucester Catholic’s 1967 football team was the last of a dominant string of five-straight South Jersey Non-Public B titles and is one of 11 sectional championships in the school’s history. The 1967 Rams went 9-0 and was the first team from Gloucester Catholic to go undefeated.

The 1972 boys basketball team represents the most recent state championship in the program’s history. Prior to the 1972 championship, the Rams had won two other state championship titles in 1964 and 1970. The 1972 team, under coach Ralph Saquella, went 25-2 and defeated Bishop Eustace Preparatory School in overtime in the South Jersey championship before beating Paterson Catholic by a score of 44-39 in the championship game.
The 1979 girls basketball team won its fourth straight state title and its sixth in what would later become nine state championships for the Gloucester Catholic girls program. The Rams went 28-1 that year and defeated Eastern Christian, 77-46, in the state championship game.
The Hall of Fame ceremony also give special recognition to esteemed alumni Dr. Jim Bonner ’72 and Matthew Gaudreau ’13.
