“Today, we gather not to mourn the Cross, but to exalt it – to hold it up not as a symbol of defeat but as a symbol of victory. We exalt it not as a relic of suffering, but as a symbol of salvation.” Such were the words of Msgr. Louis Marucci, pastor of Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish, Gibbsboro, as he celebrated Mass on the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, which was Sept. 14. Among those in attendance were Knights and Dames of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem – men and women who have dedicated themselves to the Christian presence in the Holy Land. They, in a special way, joined the faithful in praying for all those in the Holy Land, led by Msgr. Marucci, who is also the diocesan chaplain/coordinator of the order. A handful of faithful from the Diocese will be invested as Knights and Dames in early October in New York City.
