Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Camden will hold its annual Justice For All Award Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 5:30-9 p.m., at the Adelphia Grand Ballroom in Deptford.
At the event, Catholic Charities will present its 2014 Justice in Action awards, recognizing exceptional organizations and individuals for their outstanding achievements and contributions in advancing social justice and equality within the Diocese of Camden and beyond.
This year’s honorees will be the Knights of Columbus in the state of New Jersey, particularly those in the Diocese of Camden, receiving the 2014 Organizational Action Award; and Patricia Bivins, Virginia Brannigan and Kathryn Noble, volunteers for the Family and Community Services Center in Atlantic County, receiving the 2014 Individual Action Award.
Known as The Troops, Bivins, Brannigan and Noble have spent countless hours at the Family Community Services Center, greeting the homeless who come to the facility; sorting the donations and managing operations at Gracie’s Thrift Store; orchestrating the Christmas Toy Program; and acting as liaisons between families and nursing home staff.
The New Jersey State Council Knights of Columbus is a Catholic family and fraternal service organization with 64,000 members. Founded by Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney over 130 years ago, the Knights of Columbus serve the Catholic Church, families, communities, and those in need.
Accepting the award for the Knights will be Andy Lipenta, State Deputy, and member of Council 6735, at St. Peter Parish, Merchantville.
Proceeds from the event will be used to provide direct assistance to individuals and families in need in the six counties of South Jersey.
