Four eighth-grade school students will be attending Catholic high schools this fall with help from the Black Catholic Ministry Commission and the Taylor-Woodson Memorial Scholarship.
Each year, the Black Catholic Ministry Commission awards $1,500 scholarships to eighth-grade students who will be attending a Catholic high school in the Diocese of Camden. The scholarship criteria is based on academics, recommendation letters, parish activities, community service and a written autobiography.

Named after Ricardo Taylor and Earline Woodson, former members of the Black Catholic Ministry Commission who faithfully supported the program, the Taylor-Woodson Memorial Scholarship for years has provided much needed-financial assistance to worthy students, helping to support them financially and spiritually.
The 2025 scholarship winners are: Brielle Nelson of Saint Rose of Lima School in Haddon Heights, Isabelle Petit-Homme of Anne A. Miller Middle School in Sicklerville and Kassidy Page Wertz of Saint Teresa Regional School in Runnemede, all of whom will be attending Paul VI High School, Haddonfield, in the fall; and Daniella Okoye of Saint John Paul II Regional School, Stratford, who will attend Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, Pennsauken.

Funding for the scholarship comes from the Diocese of Camden’s Black Catholic Ministry Commission’s annual “Afternoon of Jazz, Plus,” as well as monies from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Black and Indian Mission Office collection.
The Black Catholic Ministry Commission hosted the 33rd annual “Afternoon of Jazz, Plus” on April 6 at Sapphire Grand, Deptford.
