Greeting each other with smiles and handshakes, business leaders from across South Jersey, Philadelphia and even Burlington County came together Nov. 17 for the third meeting of the relaunched Catholic Business Network of South Jersey.
Sponsored this month by Morris Graphics Inc., Woodbury, the meeting included breakfast, networking and Mass at Church of the Holy Family in Sewell. Guest speaker Jennifer Mauro, managing editor of the Catholic Star Herald, discussed journalism and ways professionals can build relationships with editors to have their business featured in local media outlets. She advised doing the research to contact the correct person at a media outlet and not immediately going straight to the top of an organization.

Another topic of conversation was accuracy in promoting one’s business. “Whether contacting the media, putting up a billboard or hanging a sign in your window, attention to detail is important,” Mauro said. “For example, if you have a misspelled word in your advertising or press release, potential customers or media professionals may ask, ‘If you don’t care enough about your business to get it right, why should I?’”
The Catholic Business Network meets every third Friday of the month. The next event is 8:30-10 a.m., Dec. 15, at Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, Saint Vincent Pallotti Church, Haddon Township. Visit cbnsj.org for more information.
