“God bless them all,” 97-year-old World War II veteran Tony Bocelle said after a group of 20 volunteers from Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish sang Christmas carols outside his home Dec. 19.
Ashlei Wyant, youth and family director for the Absecon parish, led the volunteers, all of whom gathered earlier at the church to distribute sheet music and plan their visits. Father Joshua Nevitt, parochial vicar, and Deacon Richard Wigglesworth also attended. The group caravanned to the homes of five homebound parishioners and stood outside as they sang to grateful residents.
Doris, his wife of 75 years, died in April 2020, and Bocelle said the carolers brought him joy. “It is very important to know that people care about you,” he said, wiping away tears.
