Faithful in the Diocese of Camden can help strengthen families, fund Catholic education and foster priestly and religious vocations by giving to the Collection for the Church in Latin America the weekend of Jan. 27-28.
Last year, the Diocese collected $77,570 for this campaign, which is sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Subcommittee on the Church in Latin America.
Overall, more than $6.2 million was collected, providing 251 grants to dioceses in Central and South America and the Caribbean Islands for ministries including evangelization; vocations and seminary training; catechesis; initiatives to build stronger marriages and combat human trafficking; promotion of human life and dignity; rehabilitation of prisoners, and ensuring the Blessed Sacrament is available to remote villages.
“Catholics have always followed the teachings of Scripture and tradition by recognizing Christ in the faces of our brothers and sisters. By helping those in need, we honor Christ and imitate him by teaching, preaching and living the Gospel,” said Auxiliary Bishop Octavio Cisneros of Brooklyn, N.Y., chairman of the Subcommittee on the Church in Latin America.
“You can be confident … knowing that your donation makes possible pastoral programs and ministries from … Mexico to the Caribbean Islands to the tip of South America,” he said.
