The Catholic Star Herald and Notre Dame de la Mer Parish are sponsoring an evening of Christmas music Dec. 18 in Wildwood.
“A Prelude to Christmas” and Holy Nativity will take place at 6 p.m. at the parish’s Assumption Church in Wildwood Crest.
“We get so lost in the busyness of the Christmas season, with shopping, decorating and wrapping, and this concert is a good way to sit back, welcome Christ into our lives and find peace,” says Jonathan Delgado, parish director of music and liturgy, who is leading the program.
Faithful from age 5 to 85 will participate in the evening, as the parish’s three choirs – children, adult and contemporary ensemble – will lend their voices to traditional, modern and spiritual songs of the season, accompanied by professional musicians.
As well, children will be in costume for the show’s finale – the Nativity and telling of Jesus’ Birth, with narration from Delgado.
He and concert participants are eager for the Christmas concert, the first of its kind for the parish post-COVID pandemic.
“We missed this; we’re all excited to return,” he said.
Delgado also noted that “it’s very special” to have the Catholic Star Herald co-sponsoring the event, saying he is thankful “for them to recognize our talents.”
Assumption Church is located at 7100 Seaview Ave. in Wildwood Crest. There is no cost to attend, though a free-will offering is encouraged. For more information, contact Notre Dame de la Mer Parish at 609-522-2709.
