
Father Edward C. Wade, 86, a retired priest who served in the Diocese, has died.
Born in Philadelphia, he studied at Saint Francis Seminary in Loretto, Pa., before being ordained in 1972.
In the Diocese of Camden, he was active with the Spanish Apostolate; he served as parochial vicar at Saint Francis de Sales, Barrington; Holy Spirit, Atlantic City; and Saint Nicholas, Egg Harbor City.
In 1980, he was granted permission to be released from the Diocese of Camden to work full time in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal throughout the United States. He was one of the founders of the Fraternity of Priests at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, where he was director of student evangelization.
Before moving to Houston to join the Catholic Charismatic Center, Father Wade traveled around the world giving missions; he lived in an ecumenical community in Ireland; and he held various pastoral positions in urban and rural parishes. After retirement, he continued his work in ecumenical relations. Father Wade died Jan. 10.
