
Father Timothy L. Hubbs, a military chaplain who served in Saudi Arabia, Korea, Afghanistan and Iraq, retired Oct. 1.
Father Hubbs, 65, holds a master’s degree in education and began his priestly ministry in the Diocese of Camden in Catholic schools. He taught religion at Wildwood Catholic High School, 1989-1991; was chair of the Religion Department at Paul VI High School, Haddonfield, 1991-98; and served as vice principal of Saint Joseph High School, Hammonton, 1998-2001.
From November 1990 to April 1991, he served in Desert Storm/Desert Shield, Saudi Arabia.
Later active duty military assignments saw him deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan and Camp Anaconda, Iraq.
Among his other miltary assignments were the Pentagon, Office of the Chief of Chaplains, 2010-13 and 2015-16, and senior Army chaplain at Arlington National Cemetery, 2013-15.
In 2004 he was awarded the USA Meritorious Service Medal.
Born in Newark, N.J., Father Hubbs attended the University of Scranton/ Saint Pius Seminary; Saint John’s Seminary, Brighton, Massachusetts; and Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J. He was ordained Sept. 1, 1984 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
He was parochial vicar at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish, Mays Landing, 1989, and in-residence at Saint Paul Parish, Stone Harbor, 1989-91; Our Lady of Grace, Somerdale, 1991-97; Saint Mary, Gloucester City, 1997-98; and Saint Martin de Porres, 1998-2001.
