Across the Diocese on Father’s Day weekend we will be conducting the Support of Seminarians collection at all parishes.
As we remember our own fathers and the support and guidance they have given us through the years, let us look forward to the next generation of priests on whom we will rely to shepherd us in the future.
Over the last several years the number of our seminarians has increased to the largest in 10 years. As of this moment, we have 17 seminarians with two more who will join the group this summer. This a hopeful sign for our diocese.
Please accept my deep gratitude to you, our parishioners, who make ready and encourage these young men to listen to the call of God to the priesthood. It is a difficult journey, but it is one that bears much fruit for the Church in South Jersey.
Please know that your generosity towards the seminarians will be well used in support of their studies and continual faith formation. It is our goal to make sure each of these future priests is well educated and formed, so they may be of service to you in the many decades that follow.
And, let us pray that more young men from our parishes and families will hear God’s call and be both generous and courageous in their response.
Sincerely in Christ,
Most Reverend Dennis J. Sullivan, D.D.
Bishop of Camden
