The Absecon school announced Feb. 25 that AJ Russo has stepped down from the head coaching position but will remain on staff as an assistant coach. He will be replaced by 2011 Holy Spirit graduate Andrew DiPasquale.
DiPasquale has been a part of the coaching staff as an assistant since 2015 and was part of two state championship teams during his time as a player at Holy Spirit.
Russo steps down after guiding the Spartans to a 50-26 record over the last seven seasons. He won three division titles, a Non-Public Group 2 State Championship in 2019, and won the unofficial South Jersey Championship in 2020 when there was no state tournament due to COVID-19.
