The Knights of Columbus Liberty Council 1910 from the Parish of the Holy Cross unveiled and dedicated a Memorial to the Unborn that also encourages support and prayers for families. The unveiling and dedication took place at Saint Teresa of Avila Church in Bridgeton on May 23.
Father Matthew Weber, pastor of the Parish of the Holy Cross, led the gathering in prayer and blessed the Memorial. Addressing those in attendance were Worthy State Treasurer Ray Sands from the NJ State Council, Worthy District Deputy Tom Perrotti of District 48, 1910 Worthy Chancellor Bill Riggins, the chair of the initiative, and Bill Whelan, 1910’s Life Director. The remarks touched on the Knights tenet of defending the right to life of every human being from the moment of conception to natural death while also detailing the planning of the Memorial by the 1910 Knights. Liberty Council 1910 purchased the Memorial as a lasting remembrance of the unborn lost to abortion.
The dedication of the Memorial was attended by Holy Cross priests, deacons and sisters, parishioners and members of the 1910 Council. The 1910 Knights would like to thank Dave and Donna Johnson of Johnson’s Farms for donating rose bushes that were placed around the memorial as well as Freitag Funeral Home for their role in acquiring the Memorial.
