The Knights of Columbus, Council Santa Maria 1443, had to defer a number of events that traditionally would have taken place during these lockdown months, including a coin toss for people with intellectual disabilities, a fundraiser for multiple sclerosis, the annual Police Appreciation Dinner and an Easter egg hunt.
Members have been able to stay informed of other council activities by holding online bi-weekly meetings.

Now able to use its building in Haddon Township, the Knights, in collaboration with the American Red Cross, recently held a blood drive with strict social distancing guidelines, including masks for all donors and staff. The Red Cross collected 52 donations that will benefit 156 hospital patients.
Grand Knight Adam Elgart has approved a second blood drive at the council home at 350 Crystal Lake Ave. on July 6, 2-7 p.m. Donors can register at www.redcrossblood.org
