Lourdes Health System has announced the opening of its new Urgent Care Center, located at LourdesCare at Cherry Hill, 1 Brace Road in Cherry Hill.
Urgent Care offers prompt treatment to patients with an illness or injury that does not appear to be life–threatening, but also can’t wait until the next primary care appointment.
“With our new Urgent Care Center, we are bridging the gap between emergency care and immediate medical attention for non-life-threatening health conditions,” said Alexander J. Hatala, president and chief executive officer, Lourdes Health System. “We welcome the opportunity to provide a continuum of care to patients in South Jersey and further our more than 65-year tradition of serving families in our community.”
LourdesCare offers a “one-stop” shop for health care. Lourdes’ physicians will diagnose and treat conditions in Lourdes’ comprehensive Urgent Care center, such as:
— Cough, cold and flu
— Sore throats and sinus infections
— Cuts and scrapes
— Broken bones, sprains and strains
— Allergies and asthma
— Urinary tract infections
— Ear and eye infections
Patients can also receive blood work, X-ray examinations, electrocardiogram (EKG) studies, urinalysis, urine test for pregnancy, and blood glucose tests.
According to a 2012 survey by the Urgent Care Association of America, a typical urgent care center had more than 300 patient visits per week. That volume is an average increase of about three patients per day from 2010.
No appointment is necessary at Lourdes Urgent Care Center. Hours of operation are: Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. -9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. -5 p.m. For more information, call 1-888-LOURDES or visit www.lourdesnet.org.
“What sets Lourdes apart, unlike other urgent care centers, is that we have a highly trained team of emergency medicine providers ready to deliver prompt care to our patients —weekdays, weekends and holidays,” said Tracy Quering, manager and RN supervisor, Lourdes Urgent Care Center. “Our Urgent Care Center is a vital resource that has the ability to coordinate with specialists and other top-notch experts throughout Lourdes. And if a patient’s symptoms are identified as life-threatening, we will arrange for quick transportation to the emergency department.”
“We recognize that families have busy lives, which is why we are committed to providing them with quick and effective treatment at a time that fits in their schedule,” said Hatala. “When you are unable to see your primary care physician and don’t require a trip to the emergency department, we are here to help.”
