Catherine Namiotka (nee Cibor) of North Wildwood, mother of Father Edward Namiotka, pastor of Saint Thomas More Parish, Cherry Hill, died Feb. 16. She was 90.
She and her husband of 39 years, Edward Sr., were advocates of Catholic education; their five children attended Saint Ann School, Wildwood, and what was then Wildwood Catholic High School. Four of her children attended Villanova University outside Philadelphia; now-Father Namiotka entered Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood, Pa. She was a dedicated member of Notre Dame de la Mer Parish, Wildwood.
Born in Philadelphia in 1933, Catherine Namiotka moved to Wildwood when she and her husband purchased the Hotel Washington in 1962. It was renamed the Pulaski Hotel and Restaurant and remained such until it was demolished to build the Pulaski Motor Inn in 1977. The couple also owned Kelly’s Café until it was later sold to one of their sons.
The beloved wife of the late Edward Sr., she is mother to: Father Namiotka, Stephen (Maureen), Victor (Patrice), Carl (Dawn) and Cathy Papageorgiou (John). She has 10 grandchildren: Maigan, Brian, Ryan, Tanner, Patrick, Molly, Danek, Christopher, Evan and the late Bridget. She also has three great-grandchildren, with two on the way.
She also is survived by one sister, Bernadette Pavloski, and her husband, Charles, from Southampton, Pa.
A viewing will take place from 9:30-10:45 a.m. on Feb. 23 in Saint Ann Church, Wildwood. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Cold Spring (Cape May).
