As the Lenten season continues, priests from around the Diocese joined Bishop Dennis Sullivan on March 10 for a Lenten Day of Reflection at Saint Charles Borromeo Parish, Sicklerville. Before the keynote presentation began, the afternoon was spent breaking bread, chatting and mentoring the younger priests.

Father Dennis Carbonaro of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and director of spiritual formation at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood, Pa., served as the day’s speaker. During his talk he asked those gathered to consider three questions, 1) How are you and Jesus doing? 2) If you REALLY gave yourself over to Jesus what would change? 3) What does the devil need to do to tempt us?

Father Carbonaro explained that to know the answers to those questions requires prayer and emphasized the importance of prayer in the life of a priest. He suggested that if a priest meditates for just 30 minutes a day, in the form of prayer, they will see happiness and joy increase in their life.
