Bishop Dennis Sullivan celebrated a Mass on Feb. 4 in recognition of the World Day for Consecrated Life, congratulating and thanking men and women religious for serving milestone years of service.
“I offer gratitude on behalf of the Church, which you have built up through your years of ministries,” he preached to the faithful, concelebrating priests, deacons, and religious sisters and brothers gathered in Holy Family Church, Sewell.
Jubilarians recognized were: Sister Andrew Marie Cavanaugh, IHM, celebrating 70 years, and Sister Dolly Joseph, SOM, marking 25 years. Those celebrating 60 years: Father Robert J. Nolan, SAC, and Sisters Dorothy Giloley, SSJ; JoAnna Ralph, IHM; Anne M. Lafferty, IHM; Rosalie Prosati, RSM; Veronica Roche, SSJ, and Rosemarie Wdzieczkowski, OP.
“You jubilarians have touched the lives of many people, countless numbers … and for them, you have been and are shepherds,” Bishop Sullivan preached. “You have provided varieties of pastoral care for the flock of God, pastoring in countless ways. … You have led them to experience the generous mercy of God; you have spoken to them the Good News of Jesus Christ. You have anointed the wounded, welcomed outcasts, immigrants, the poor; provided tables of plenty, tables of welcome, tables of fellowship; you have brought many out of turmoil to peace.”
“May you continue to pastor, like a Good Shepherd and Good Shepherdesses, those who come to you; may you continue to make Christ known by your ministries and fidelity to your consecration, and may your jubilee year refresh and renew you,” Bishop Sullivan said.
