
Sister Roberta Ann Bucci, OP, who taught in Catholic schools in Gloucester City and Camden, died Feb. 17, 2021, at Saint Mary, Morris Hall, Lawrenceville, N.J. She was 94 years of age.
The daughter of the late Anthony and Liberta Sabastino Bucci, she was born Oct. 9, 1926 in Camden.
Sister Roberta Ann entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh, New York, on Sept. 8, 1956, made her first profession June 13, 1958, and final profession Aug. 21, 1961. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Mount Saint Mary College, Newburgh, New York.
Sister spent just shy of 40 years in the field of education ministering in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. Most of her time in and around the classroom was in New Jersey, where she taught at Saint Mary’s School, Gloucester (1970-74), Saint Joan of Arc School, Camden (1978-79), and at schools in New Monmouth and Toms River.
Upon retiring from school ministry, Sister Roberta Ann served as a clerical assistant and provided congregational services at the Center of Hope at Ossining, New York.
During her retirement years she first lived at the Center of Hope in Ossining, New York, then spent a year at Asbury Tower in Asbury Park and finally the last nine years at Saint Mary, Morris Hall, Lawrenceville, N.J.
Sister Roberta Ann is predeceased by her sisters Ann Houser, Martha Sutter, Philomena Sczepanski and her brothers Armand, Cadaida and Fred. Sister is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID the Mass of Christian Burial is being postponed to a later date. Burial took place on Feb. 24 at the Dominican Sisters Cemetery at Mariandale, Ossining, New York.
