The Center for Environmental Transformation will hold its 10th Annual Thomas Berry presentation on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Camden. Artist Brother Mickey McGrath Villanova professor Ilia Delio will bring together new views of the Earth, the cosmos. and the presence of God.
“They will challenge us to think about our place in the expanding and evolving universe, challenging us to re-imagine what it means to be human in the light of quantum physics,” CFET said in announcing the program. “With their passions for science and art, Ilia and Mickey will breathe new life into the timeless traditions and spiritualities of our faiths and practices.”
There will be a reception, with soup, breads and cookies following the presentations in the CFET retreat house.
CFET has two arms of development in Camden. The first is a one-acre organic farm, two fruit orchards, and three bee hives. Young adults from Camden city as Eco-interns tend the land, learn about the non-genetically modified crops they grow for the community, make hot sauce (Kapow!) and harvest the honey ( Midas Gold). The other CFET arm is a 24-bed retreat house where college and high school students join in the work of the farm with the Camden Eco-Interns and in other non-profit service agencies in Camden.
Tickets for the Thomas Berry Lecture are $20 ($10 for students) and can be obtained through Cathy Nevins at canevins@verizon.net or at 856-816-6373.
