CHERRY HILL — St. Thomas More and St. Mary parishes here spread Christmas cheer with two separate youth group visits to Camden schools a few weeks before Christmas.
On Saturday, Dec. 12, and Sunday, Dec. 13, Camden children were treated to crafts, games, prizes, food and a visit from the North Pole’s own Santa Claus.
On Saturday morning, Dec. 12, St. Mary’s youth group visited some 50 children at St. Joseph’s Pro-Cathedral Parish in East Camden. The next day, 36 junior and senior youth group members from St. Thomas More hosted the sixth annual Christmas party for over 50 students of Holy Name school in North Camden.
“It’s a good thing for the kids,” said Stan Thompson, St. Thomas More’s youth group coordinator, who mentioned that St. Thomas youth paired up with Holy Name children, in a mentoring capacity. “I told them, ‘(the Holy Name children) are going to remember the time you spent time with them.’”
