Last year’s Mass to Celebrate New Life in honor of St. Gerard Majella brought out a group of friends who came to have their children blessed. Standing is John McDyer holding his grandson, Alex Schmid, and Megan Virostek, holding her son Colin. Kneeling with her sons is Mary Orphanos with Patrick (in the carrier) and Anthony, and her friend Janet Schmid, daughter of John McDyer. Janet and Megan also came to be blessed themselves, as they were both pregnant at the time of the Mass. They have since both given birth to girls. The group of friends is planning to bring the children and new babies to this year’s Mass on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. at St. Bridget Church in Glassboro (125 Church Street).
