Mary, Queen of All Saints parishioners, along with members of the Pennsauken Alliance for the Performing Arts, put on “Smokey Joe’s Café” for Broadway and music lovers Nov. 14-15.
Held at Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill, the show was a fundraiser for the new parish, recentlty created by the merger of St. Cecilia and St. Veronica parishes.
Written by songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, the show, which first opened on Broadway in 1995, is a musical revue of rock and roll and R & B songs from the 1950s and 1960s, including “Hound Dog,” “Stand By Me” and “There Goes My Baby.”
Eighteen PAPA members and two Mary, Queen of All Saints parishioners comprised the company, men’s quartet, and band of the production.
